Our community has become a target of a divisive narrative, designed to sow discord with unfounded rumors, such as "kitty litter in bathrooms," among others, at our local schools. This is not a tactic isolated to our community, but part of a wider attempt observed across the nation to manufacture outrage and weaken support for our educational system and the youth it serves.
It is evident that these claims capture attention, and in doing so, they distract from the essential discussions about the quality of education the school district is able to offer our kids. These baseless claims serve the interest of “conflict entrepreneurs,” who profit by fracturing the united front our community has maintained for decades. It is a strategy deliberately designed to enrich a few at the expense of our community's future.

Locally supporting education transcends politics; it is a moral imperative rooted in logic. As the Idaho State Constitution clearly says, the stability of a republican form of government depends mainly upon the intelligence of the people. Our community, grounded in conservative principles, has exemplified this and thrived for generations with a strong education system as the cornerstone. We value honesty, integrity, work ethic, family, and living by Christ’s Golden Rule of “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”

It will require courage and leadership to counter this division and preserve the integrity of our schools– and by extension, our local economy. Many of us have been able to climb and become valuable contributors to our community because of the public education system. The suggestion that we should withhold this same support from the next generation is counter to our core conservative principles. As the levy vote approaches, we are called to reaffirm our small-town values. This isn’t about paying it forward out of obligation but recognizing the essential role of education in maintaining our community’s way of life.
Let’s dismiss the divisive rhetoric and remember the impact of community investment in education. Hold the line here, lean into our public schools, support our kids, invest in the local economy, and pass the levy. This is how we preserve the values that define us and ensure our community’s continued prosperity and unity. Vote YES for the SD244 Levy!
